It was on screen nationwide in May this year, and is still shown worldwide. Now the release of DVD & Blu-ray of this movie, which moved audience not only inside but also outside Japan, has been decided!
As a guitarist of X JAPAN, and as a solo artist, “hide” has had still a great influence on the Japanese music scene.
It has been 20 years since hide suddenly has gone in 1998. The movie “HURRY GO ROUND” is screened as part of “hide 20th Memorial Project”.
In this documentary, an actor Yuma Yamoto (28), who had hardly known about hide, actually “hide beginner”, was a facilitator. He traced hide’s footsteps such as Yokosuka where he was born and raised, also Los Angeles where his last song “HURRY GO ROUND” was created and he had stayed three month before he passed away.
It more highlighted beloved hide’s personality from the words of those who knows hide’s life well, like Hiroshi Matsumoto who was his younger brother and a personal manager of him at the time (hide Management office, Head Wax Organization President), hide with Spread Beaver’s member and co-producer of hide’s music, I.N.A., recording engineer, ERIC WESTFALL, Rocking on Japan chief editor, Yoichiro Yamazaki,
What happened on the day of May 2, 1998, when it was the last day of him? Given a number of facts or truths which were revealed for the first time, and the feelings towards hide of YOSHIKI, a staunch friend ally of him and the leader of X JAPAN, were so touching that many audience could not hold their tears.
In addition, the theme song “HURRY GO ROUND (hide vocal Take 2)”, which is an unreleased vocal truck of hide found by I.N.A. by chance during the production process of this movie. This shows the film was made with many of miracles.
Responding to many voices of fans who were eager to “watch it again” and “be with hide always”, DVD & Blu-ray for this movie was decided to release!
In the bonus video, full version of the studio video at the time of creating demonstration sound of “HURRY GO ROUND” which was also used for the main part of the movie was included. In addition, Director’s cut (an interview Video) by director Toshiaki Ishikawa, and unreleased movies in the bonus video were valuable and let the main part of the film more interesting.
In the DVD & Blu-ray “HURRY GO ROUND ” we can feel hide’s sincerity, fun and playfulness towards music.

Yuma yamoto
Born in 1990 in Kyoto Prefecture.
In 2003, he made his debut on the movie “My House (Bokunchi)” although he had no experience of acting. He had participated as a research student in adult plan from 2011, and launched ‘Theater Group Komatsuna’ with his research fellows in 2012. He acted the main character in his first drama series “Mr. Ugly and Ms. Beast (Busu to Yajuu)” in 2015. Also drama “Saving My Stupid Youth! (Gomen ne Seishun!)” (2014 / TBS) become a hot topic. He played a vassal of Naomasa Ii on NHK Taiga Drama “Naotora: The Lady Warlord (Onna Joshu Naotora)” (2017) as well.
He has played in movies like “Close EXPLODE” (2014), “Chihayafuru Part I (kami no ku)/ Part II (shimo no ku)” (2016), “Hamon: Yakuza Boogie (Hamon Futari no Yakubyogami)”(2017), “I want to eat your pancreas (Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai)”, “Tori Girl!”, “Dawn Wind in My Poncho (Poncho ni yoake no kaze haramasete)”. This year, in 2018, he performed as Jun Kiwatari in TBS series “Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler (kakegurui)”, NHK drama series “Half, Blue. (Hanbun, Aoi)”, “Chihayafuri Part3 (Musubi)”, and “A Seaside Weekly Tabloid (Umibe no Shukan Taishu)”. He is taking an active part in Japanese dramas and movies appearing one after another.

I had hardly known about hide when I was decided to appear in this film.
At first, I was excited and curious, but gradually I felt overwhelmed. I realized I faced to such a great person. I found that currently I haven’t had an energy to confront with his life and soul. It’s been 20 years after his death, hide’s energy has not been consumed, and it is overflowing to the young generation. From the song, I felt that something very pure came into my heart like the one which cannot help having fun. Its high purity would make it vivid and still fresh.
This a movie is one which encountered hide and Yuma Yamoto. I’m really sorry that I was chosen to be on the role. But thanks to this film, hide became one of my favorite musicians. During this piece of work, I was telling honest feelings, so I’m nervous how you watch and feel. And those who do not know hide yet may step on the new world watching this film!

Director: Tomoaki Ishikawa
Born in Kazuno, Akita Prefecture in 1975. After graduating from university, he experienced comedy program assistant, and became independent in 2003. As a freelance, he acted as a director of a wide variety of genres such as comedy, documentary, advertisement and music video, and founded Thirty Frame Co., Ltd. By himself in 2011.
He became a topic making documentaries of various genres in a TV program, such as artists like DREAMS COME TRUE, YOSHIKI (XJAPAN), Perfume, and Yu Takahashi, also, Art Director Kashiwa Sato, manga creator Fujio Akatsuka, and Ski Jumper Sara Takanashi.
In addition, he acts as a Director, Producer and Constructors of words like NHK Aoyama One-Seg Development Second Season Winning Work Clay animation “Sakiika-kun”, TEAM NACS’s Journey to the West “Monkey Permanent”, and Hide Official Book “Pinky Promise”.

I did not imagine at all that my first film director’s work would be a documentary of hide.
There was an opportunity to work a number of time such as the official book “Pinky Promise”, and photographing in the 13th anniversary of his death, but there was not an opportunity to work before he passed away, in fact we have never met each other. In a sense I was a “beginner of hide”, yet serving as a director of his documentary director, I would love to make a movie for his fans as well as for younger generations who do not know him.
What will happen if those who do not know hide who was born in an era that could not see the real hide in their life have seen him? A perfect person was come up with, an actor Yuma Yamoto. He did MC for the music program which I’m directing so I knew his personality. Of course, we know him as an actor in various movies and dramas, but I saw he listened wide range of music, and was a little funny, cute, and pure with underlying strength. So I thought he was partly similar to hide, isn’t he? That’s why I offered him this role expecting an interesting chemical reaction.
Since in the documentary the actor and director were the beginners of hide, I came to know most of the fact for the first time. We visited hide’s hometown, watched each of his videos, knew the coolness of hide, and became fans. Yamoto said desperately “I want to dye my hair dye on pink too!!” (lol)
As I learned about hide, I thought “life and death” of hide was the most important thing this time. Thus, I got an important story from various people who know hide. While everyone told me the truth having tears, I felt a lot of things there. I discussed about it with Yamoto as well. I believe that the messages that hide wanted to tell us are in “HURRY GO ROUND”.
As one of the fans of hide now, I would like many people to watch this movie.
